Wheel by John Mayer for Solo Vibraphone

"Wheel" is the last track off of John Mayer's album, "Heavier Things," released on September 9th, 2003. Mayer wrote this song after deleting numbers out of his cell phone that he knew he would, more than likely, never call again. This experience provided the inspiration for the song. This is an arrangement that was started in 2012 while I was in my MM program at Ithaca. I completed the arrangement this year upon starting my DMA program at James Madison University.

UPCOMING WORKS:

ETUDES FOR MARIMBA

FOUR NEW WORKS FOR THE ADVANCING MARIMBIST

This book of etudes was written for marimbists in search of literature that serves as a stepping stone to advanced literature. Within this book you will find four etudes designed to build skillsets found in advanced literature while providing comfortable intermediate techniques and concepts throughout. Each etude is preceded by several exercises that focus on specific techniques and concepts found within the etude. While these pages will prove useful for the etudes, performers should continue to reference other technique books for a comprehensive approach to marimba technique. Each etude ranges from four to five minutes in length and presents a clear formal structure. The harmonic language is meant to be easy to listen to and to analyze. This book is suited for any level of player in search of enjoyable repertoire. In short, this is a book of etudes that sound nice and are fun to play.

Listen to the etudes, watch the videos, and purchase the book HERE.

FAREWELL TO SHADOWLANDS

FOR ACOUSTIC GUITAR & PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE

Farewell to Shadowlands is a new work for percussion ensemble and acoustic guitar. The inspiration came from my love of Americana Folk music and Travis Picking technique on guitar. I started a side project folk duo, The 42nd Parallel, during my masters degree at Ithaca College. Since then, I’d always wanted to combine my percussion background with folk music. At the same time, my quartet, Without Borders, was looking for new music to perform and premiere. This piece was the result. The guitar part is available in notation and tab.

Be on the lookout for the full score and parts in the Spring of 2023.

Have a listen to an excerpt and take a look at a sneak peak of the score below. Enjoy!
